There are many tracks and trails in the upper dales zig-zagging down steep fell sides and snaking their way up the other side. These tracks lead out onto the high rugged fells and in winter are used daily by farmers to take hay and other feed to the sheep. The sheep come readily for these extra rations which gives the farmer the perfect opportunity to check that his flock are thriving and healthy.
